New Years Resolutions

New Year FireworksWe all have a very interesting year ahead, some more secure than others. I won’t start on what, and who, got us in to this economic mess as I will get all steamed up after a very pleasant Christmas break. I would rather look forward and suggest a few small and enjoyable lifestyle changes or mini resolutions. If you have any of interest please add them.

This mess we are in, I think, stems from the increasing power of the giant multinationals so here are a few ideas:

  • Buy local produce using the BigBarn map to get better and cheaper food and put your money back into the local economy, NOT, the global multinational.
  • Yes I know we can’t get everything we need locally so decrease your supermarket shop to once a month for cleaning equipment, coffee, etc, and try and buy fair trade.
  • Look at the label and make sure if you ever do buy non local products they are not dodgy. We will soon be involved in the ‘Pig Business’ a film exposing the disgraceful production methods of a US company called Smithfield now producing ‘pork’ in Poland and Romania with ambitions to export to the UK.
  • Cook more. Using basic fresh, in season ingredients and more healthy and cheaper. We will soon be working with a new website allowing you watch recipes on video. What could be easier!

So keep an eye on BigBarn and we will help you find great food you can trust then give you ideas on how to cook it.

Happy New Year!
