Warren & Ellie Goff took over Ellie’s family Dairy Goat Herd (The Monach Herd) in Early 2000. They moved on to Family land at Abberton in September of that year and began to build their own farm….Butterfly Lodge (Abberton CO5 7LG). * The Monach Herd was already highly acclaimed internationally for the quality of its milk and exceptional pedigree breeding stock lines. * By 2004, Warren dreamt up the idea of creating a premium quality goat’s milk ice cream. The rest of the family were unsure, Warren persisted and set his entrepreneurial brain into full swing. * Warren and Ellie launched ‘Caprilatte Ice Cream’ in December 2004 selling through their own Farmshop at Butterfly Lodge. Warren took Caprilatte to the National Ice Cream Exhibition and wowed the judges. Over the next three years he scooped no less than Five National Ice Cream Awards against the countries finest cows milk ice creams. * News spread fast and ‘Caprilatte Ice Cream’ was soon in the headlines and being distributed through regional wholesalers. Warren has subsequently scooped National Food Awards at the BBC Food & Farming Awards 2007 (Runner up ‘UK Producer of the Year’), Waitrose / Farmers Guardian ‘Farmer Producer of the Year’ 2007 and in 2009 was voted as ‘Essex Food Producer of the Year’ at the Essex Food & Drink awards held in October 2009. * In April 2009 Caprilatte became ‘The Caprilatte Ice Cream Company’ and now boasts a flavour list of over 40 natural flavours.
