Easy to save money on food?

As the cost of living crisis grows it is brilliant that the BBC have a whole recipe section on great meals for under £1 per person here. If everyone in the UK used this page, bought fresh local ingredients and had cooking facilities, would food be included in the crisis?

If you find recipes difficult to follow there are loads of recipe videos on the internet including our KIS (Keep it Simple) cookery video channel. (please feel free to add your video recipe)

Cooking is fun and easy

Meals might even be cheaper than £1 if ingredients are home grown or bought in bulk and shared with friends or community.

I believe that our big problem is lack of knowledge and the misleading messages from marketeers. Such as:
‘You are far too busy to cook, here is a nice ready meal’.
Or: ‘You should buy this vegan product as it is good for the planet’.
Or: ‘Make your kids happy with this lovely sweet pudding’.

Any knowledgeable person would see all these messages as promotion for unhealthy, unnecessary, expensive, foods.

At BigBarn we have been building our Local Food Map for 22 years to help people find fresh, affordable ingredients. And working with schools to help our kids get enthused and knowledgable about food. Please help your local school to become foodie using our videos here

Or to see more about our mission here is a video. (He is not as stupid as he looks!)
