The classic British Elevenses, and tea is too wet without something to go with it!
How many of us reach for a sweet treat when the clock hits 11am or tea time?
Forget the sugar covered, additive loaded doughnut or cake from the supermarket that leaves a bad after taste in your mouth and purse. Why not invest in a packet of artisan biscuits from one of the country’s finest bakers? A lemon melt perhaps? Or a chocolate dipped ginger? Or pop into your local deli for a slice of freshly baked cake? These are real treats and ones you’ll savour and enjoy rather than popping in your mouth without a second’s thought.
Or even better why not test your skills on a Sunday afternoon and bake something different each week using the best of local produce? It is a great way to get the kids involved in the kitchen and you can enjoy your hard work for the rest of the week (if they last that long).
If, however, you are one of those people who try to refrain from the mid-morning munch, then choose National Cake Week as a time to throw out those good intentions and enjoy a slice. Find out more about this brilliantly-themed celebration click here.
For those of you who’d prefer to buy online and fill your cupboards with some delicious, handmade goodies then try our MarketPlace here, where you can buy cakes of all different shapes, sizes and tastes.
Or to discover a deli or farm shop near you take a look at our local food map.
