Perfect! This shop has completely changed our shopping experience. It’s now fun to shop. It took a couple of weeks to get used to collating milk bottles, butter dishes, bottles for oil, vinegar & washing up liquid, and bags for cereals, nuts, pasta & rice. You can actually buy all these from the shop if you’re short of a container, (and customers even gift extra containers for others to make use of. But once you start organising through the week, you find you are looking forward to the next shop at Clean Kilo. The staff are so friendly, informative and really, really helpful. I have only been inside a ‘traditional’ supermarket once since my fist visit to Clean Kilo. We buy everything from here now: toiletries; household cleaning & laundry products; eggs, milk, butter, yoghurt & cheese; spices & herbs; oils & vinegars; and every conceivable dry product .... nuts, seeds, flour, pasta, rice etc. There’s a small fresh veg & fruit section too. It’s a real treat to meet like-minded people who are prepared to give consideration to how each product is sourced. They have a niffty ‘Tare’ system whereby you weigh your own container first, then put in as much or as little of the goods as you need, and finally the scales minus off the weight of your container so you only pay for the product you’ve put in. My weekly shop is actually less now than when I went to one of the big name supermarkets. A few items are more expensive, but I don’t care; (I know I am supporting a local, environmentally-friendly business, and I’m saving money by not being tempted to buy stuff I don’t really need, and I’m not paying for advertising and plastic packaging either). If you’ve read this far, you’ve probably sussed that I’m a huge fan of Clean Kilo. Go and check them out. Remember to take your bags 😁. And look out for workshops that they host. (I attended a brilliant one to learn how to crochet ‘scrubbies’ for washing up & household cleaning).
