Our story
Having to leave her education and village in Punjab, India when my Maa was just a young girl, she went from star pupil to a stranger in a foreign country when she moved to England to get married. She spent the rest of her life devoted to her family. After her children left home, one day she sadly told her children that she did not have anything else to share with the world. We began this website as a means to share my Maa's passion for cooking and food.
As her son, my own contribution is to share her recipes in the same way I experienced her food growing up. My maa had a story for every ingredient especially the spices which we knew to have medicinal effects. She stirred the pot with loving attention, She showed us how to appreciate our food. Finally, we connected and bonded at the dinner table as we shared our stories of the day. I have come to call this 'The ceremony of food'.
A ceremony is an intentional act to create a structure for a group of related events to naturally develop a stronger connection with our inner selves, with the food, and with each other. This we call The ceremony of food. All our cooking kits come with a Ceremony card with the intention to make each meal a positive experience.
