A versatile variety that as a single variety produces a dry sharp cider that can be improved by blending with a sweeter variety. Also very useful as a cooking apple. The ribbed red flushed apples ripen from late August and need gathering quickly.
On strong growing M25 rootstock. One year 'maiden' tree 1.2-1.5m tall. Can grow to 7.5m+ height and spread in 10+ years. Suitable for standard orchards and grazing sheep or even cattle between.
