Classed as a 'Jersey' apple originating in Somerset being a bittersweet - its flesh being sweet with some astringency. Apples are large for a cider variety, skin being greatly flushed & striped red. The apples mature from late October and produces a very enjoyable cider.

On moderate vigour MM106 rootstock. One year 'Maiden' trees 1.5-1.8m tall. Can grow to 3.5-4.5m height and spread in 10+ years. Usually support with stake for the first 2-3 years.
