Hello we are Lisa & Steve at East of England Raw Honey (google maps) in Ringsfield Suffolk.
Location what3words ///natively.freshest.roofed - this leads you to our 'Raw Honey' drive entrance. Please go down the drive, pass the beehives, where you will eventually find room to park & you will see our honey shed.
Please note: we are 'farm gate' sales from our home at present. We are cash only.
We started with a wild swarm of honey bees over 6 years ago and now have 15 garden/field hives at home.
We have always sold from home in our 'honey shed'.
We harvest a small amount of honey twice a year from our own hives which is just coarsely, cold fitered to remove hive debris then put into jars, but we don't have enough to last us through the year as we leave plenty for the bees.
Therefore, we sell some of our fellow beekeeper's unpasteurised honey from along the East of England as they have many more hives than us & therefore have more honey available. This honey is all clearly labelled with where the honey is harvested from, the type of honey and other honey/harvesting information. We are 100% transparent and authentic at all times & it is at the heart of what we do.
(Please note: raw, unpasteurised honey will always granulate as this is a natural process & a sign of it's authenticity - this doesn't happen in heat treated/processed honey that you may find in the supermarket. Different types of honey have different rates of granulation and temperature/particulates like pollen will also influence the rate of granulation)
Our other items for sale includes a couple of unique, artisan homemade 'chocolate' honey products:
* a spread from honey, raw cacao (not cocoa) powder & other natural ingredients which is dairy-free, nut-free & palm oil free.
This is made in small batches weekly. Not sales talk - this is really lovely.
*our own small 'chocolate' bars and hearts made with just 3 ingredients: honey, cacao butter & cacao powder. This is more of a dark 'chocolate' taste, but has an awesome 'creaminess' about it. Beautiful. These products are absolutely lovely & are a very healthy alternative to regular chocolate products.
Please also see the Wedding Favour link on the Facebook logo.
You can 'try-B4-u-buy' on all our honey/choc products as we offer free tasters.
We have other seasonal produce from our garden when available. We don't use any chemicals whatsoever.
We think we are a hidden gem & we are very happy to answer any queries about raw honey and everything we supply. Unpasteurised honey/honey products are not recommended for infants under 1 year.
We do have frequently asked questions about 'organic' honey so please note, there is absolutely no organic honey harvested in the UK.
This is because there is no area of land large enough for a foraging bee to gather nectar from organically certified flowers/weeds/trees/hedges etc. Honey bees can travel a total roughly 6km to forage.
Other countries do have organically certified areas that are pristine to their own standards. Please look at the labels on honey jars which should most definitely say where the honey is produced/harvested from: typically 'Produce of .../Product of .../Harvested in ....'
R*wse Honey has an 'organic' label on some of their honey products & certified by the Soil association, but when you go on their own FAQ's, it states they source honey from all over the world, the Soil Association then endorses it if it satisfies their standards. This is apparently a perfectly legal thing to do. How utterly misleading. You have to be a 'food detective' to get to the truth of where your food actually comes from. Meanwhile in the UK, we have tons & tons of superb natural honey readily available twice a year, every year.
In this country, honey is harvested twice a year: May/June and again in September time, depending on the weather and what part of the country the hives are situated. We will have our own honey available end of May or in June sometime, dependant on the weather.
To keep costs down, I use basic, informative labelling & plain food-safe wrapping, but I also have a range with bespoke labels which are handmade with our own design stamps using handmade khadi paper for the discerning customer. Gift hampers also available for every occasion & you can choose your own variations.
Pop in & have a browse - we are here most days/eves and happy to help.
See gumtree link for up-to-date info/photos/prices.
We are usually open every day & eves. If you are travelling from a distance, maybe contact us beforehand.
