At Perrystone meats we are passionate about providing local, sustainable products. Direct from our field’s to your fork. All our products have full traceability, our beef can be tracked from birth to your plate and we have a very high health status on our farm. We are committed to giving our animals that best life we can. When we were looking for a native breed to help us Utilise our fantastic permanent pasture, we settled on the Ruby Red Devon’s as there so versatile. They love living outside and would quite happily stay out year round, they are very quiet and easy to manage and handle. We first bought a bull to join our existing continental herd of cows. We then wanted to expand and so were looking for a couple of friends for him. We were looking for a couple of females but were lucky enough to find a whole herd of 10 cows and calves, 9 breeding heifers and a bull. They settled in to life here in their new home very quickly and established themselves as part of the furniture; in fact it’s hard to remember when they weren’t here. We try to keep them outside as much as possible, but they do have to come in to the barns sometimes, when the weather gets to horrible and the fields are too wet and we also like to have the girls in for when they calve just in case help is needed. The meat they produce (in our opinion anyway) is some of the best beef we have ever eaten. Our butcher then hangs it for 4 weeks in there cold store to allow the full flavour and tenderness to come out, he will then cut it down in to the joints and steaks that we want and vac packs it ready for us to collect. This is so we can ensure that our meat reaches you in peak condition.
